Huahine is just thirty minutes by plane from the main island of Tahiti. Huahine, has 2 main islands surrounded by a fringing coral reef with several motu (islets) within the lagoon. Huahine Nui in the north, where the airport and main township of Fare is located and Huahine Iti in the south, today a small bridge connects the two islands.
Huahine has a lush forest interior, some rugged and untamed landscape and quaint seaside villages. With just 3 main resorts (30-40 rooms each), Huahine is far less touristed than Moorea, Bora bora or Tahiti!
The pace of life on the island is so relaxing and stress free that you can almost immediately feel time slow down the moment you step foot outside the airport.
There's an abundance of long white sandy beaches on Huahine, azure lagoons for snorkelling and watersports and enthusiastic local guides proud to share their island hospitality.
With a population less than 6,000, it is normal to have an entire beach to oneself. Perhaps this is what makes it such a treasure today. Huahine is undoubtedly one of Polynesia's best-kept secrets. Ssshhhh...
